About Us

Future Academy UK

The objects of Future Academy UK are for the public benefit to advance in life and relieve the needs of refugees up to the age of 18, living in the UK and overseas, by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals.

Future Academy UK provides outreach and supplementary education to refugee children living in the UK and overseas.

Future Academy UK is committed to minimising administration and support costs; 100% of donations were spent directly on charitable activities in 2020.

Future Academy UK (1190708) was registered by The Charity Commission in August 2020.

Our Trustees

Martin Watts

CHAIR

Martin Watts graduated from King’s College London with a degree in electronic and computer engineering and worked for 27 years in investment banking. He is now semi-retired and also treasurer for the local branch of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

Jane Watts

TREASURER

Jane has been involved in education for 35 years, working in independent, maintained and academy schools as a maths teacher, head of department and member of the associate leadership team. She is currently working as an educational consultant specialising in assessment and progress.

Elizabeth Roberts

SECRETARY

Elizabeth has spent her career working with children of all ages. She is currently deputy CEO of a large multi-academy trust. She believes passionately in improving life chances for children and breaking down barriers between people from different backgrounds.

Alex Barnard

TRUSTEE

Alex has eight years’ experience in HR in the energy industry. During his time in the sector, he has helped businesses advance the ‘green revolution’ towards renewable energy. Alex is TEFL certified and currently volunteers as a FIRST mentor in the Rockies region of the USA.

Damien Gabet

TRUSTEE

Damien is a French-speaking freelance journalist and copywriter, and was previously a magazine editor. He specialises in the travel and hospitality sector. When not writing he can be found either on a football pitch or swimming in cold water. Damien currently volunteers for Age UK.
